Review #1 for Ethel's Cafe
Cafe on Main St.
I'd been wanting to try out Ethel's Cafe for quite sometime as I would repeatedly see the listing when I'd be in Brawley, but each time I wasn't able to find it. It's located just east of the glorieta on Main St., but hidden in between some other shops. Today I spotted it and decided to give it a try.
Ethel's looks diner-ish in a sense that it has a bar with stools area and numerous booths laid out against the walls. You can see the cook through the order window and the waitresses are bustling up and down during lunch hour as school kids pour in. They seem well prepared for the 1 hour invasion.
I ordered their special, which was a meatloaf melt along with fries and an iced tea. Along with the special came what looked like some type of nacho soup. It was quite tasty and soon after came my order. The sandwich was quite good and was indeed very satisfying. Next came a bread pudding dessert, which made the meal feel complete. The total was about $7.50, which I felt was very reasonable.
Service was overall attentive and there was a lot of communication between the customers and workers. This gave me the impression that many of the people frequent Ethel's Cafe on a daily basis.
Very good and friendly place that I believe to be highly recommendable.
