Is the food over-browning?
I've tried Brownie's Diner in Brawley once and it was a strange experience which resulted in a near smoke out.
I went simple with the order and had myself a BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomatoe) sandwich at the booth so I could catch up on some television. Nothing spectacular happened, except for my vision getting foggy and thinking something strange was in my food. I guess there was either something wrong with the ventilation or a customer ordered their meal well-burnt. I do remember someone asking for the fries "golden." No one seemed to complain so I remained still.
Anyway, just your ordinary restaurant with your ordinary local residents for you to over analyze.

excellent food
Whenever I come home for a visit I have to go to Brownies I always eat the Machaca and eggs with beans and flour tortillas. There is other great food there but I only get to eat there every month or so and I cant find anywhere up here that has Mexican food breakfast. Salsa is also very good.
