Review #1 for Camacho's Place
Great place if you get the right things. Like all Mexican food places in the Imperial Valley, not everything is good. The two reviewers who were hard on this place just happen to get things that aren't that good. Camacho's has great chile rellenos and special quesadillas and a guacamole taco to die for. My favorite thing, however, is to order a Bud Light. It comes in a bottle from one of the coldest freezers I've ever felt, served with this little bitchin' frosty glass.
I will agree that they have the worst enchilada sauce I can remember. I ordered one of those flat enchiladas with the fried egg on top and thought it sucked. Ordered the same thing at La Hacienda next to the courthouse in EC, and it was the bomb.
And the service is a little sketchy on the weekend. But on the weekday, with Rosie, she is so cool.
Recommends: Chille rellenos, guacamole taco, special quesadilla, carne asada burrito (small but tasty).

Review #2 for Camacho's Place
Are you Serious?? I went out to Camachos recently with a friend just to get out of our usual restaurant routine. Unfortunately, I was reminded why i don't go there. I must say the chips were excellent! They were fresh, light and still warm. The salsa was great also. It was a little hot, but had great flavor. However, in comparison, it only made the rest of my meal that much worse. I ordered chicken enchiladas and rice. The rice was bland, and the enchiladas were worse!! I let my friend taste them, and we both agreed. They were the worst we had ever tasted. It honestly tasted like corn tortilla with canned tomato sauce on it. Not even canned enchilada sauce...just straight tomato. yuck. While we were paying i saw an older Mexican lady in the kitchen. How could this be??? How have they stayed in buisiness so long? I guess I ordered the wrong thing.
 Recommends: not the enchiladas

Review #3 for Camacho's Place
This place is way over rated. There food is decent at best. You'll enjoy yourself more by going to Letty's Casita, Tortilla Soup or La Fonda!

Review #4 for Camacho's Place
Excellent Mexican Meal in Isolation I had no idea where to go eat for lunch, so I decided to try out a restaurant that I had never eaten at before. Browsing through this wonderful service that is Calecia.com Food & Drink, I came across Camacho's Place. It was out of the way and I normally don't eat Mexican food for lunch, but I decided upon it mainly to place a review.
Driving down Wahl Road, I was beginning to think that I was going the wrong way, until I finally saw it off in the distance. I park my car in the large shaded dirt parking lot and start heading towards the door, all while glancing at the flyers on the bulletin board. As I step in, it slightly resembles a fifties diner/cafeteria. I take a seat and place my order.
I order one sope and a chile relleno with sauce along with an iced tea. Soon a bowl of chips and salsa are placed on my table and I begin to eat. These chips are good. They're freshly made and are light, crispy and flaky at the same time. The salsa is pretty good as well.
Finally my order arrives. I add some salsa to the sope and take a bite. It tastes pretty good. Next I take a bite out of the chile relleno and it's very good. In fact, it's probably the best chile relleno I've had in the Imperial Valley.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting this place to be that good because of the hype I've heard about it, but I'd have to say that this might be the best Mexican restaurant I've eaten at in the Imperial Valley. The prices might be a little higher than others, but the quality is very well worth it. It's still owned by relatives of the founders, so I can imagine this has always been a good place to eat at.
Like the owner told me, "They've had a lot of practice."
Recommends: Chile Relleno w/ sauce and Sope
