Review #1 for Assaggio Italian Restaurant

I was planning on waiting until my second or third time I ate at Assaggio in Brawley before I placed my review, simply because I couldn't believe how good my food was. I had heard of this (new) Italian restaurant for some time now and never thought I'd have a meal there since it was so far. Well, I got the chance to have lunch here and I'm glad I had this opportunity.
I looked at the menu for a few minutes trying to decide what to order for lunch. It took me some time since they actually have a full menu and not just spaghetti, lasagna and other pasta dishes. They also offer sausage, seafood, veal, soups and a lot more. No pizza, by the way. I was having a hard time choosing, so I ended up going with a lunch item which included a soup or salad, calamari with vegetables and a drink for $6.90. I thought this was a good price to try out a new restaurant without spending too much if it turned out to be a disappointment.
It sure wasn't.
The waitress first brought me a wine glass with iced water to start and then brought me my iced tea. She then brought over a basket with bread and butter. Next was my soup and after I was done with them, came my main dish. The calamari dish was large and looked delicious. Usually expecting disappointment, I didn't expect my food to have so much flavor. It did and I was eating away on some lightly battered squid, vegetables and pasta all with a hint of garlic. This meal was completely satisfying.
Service was excellent. Even with two large groups in the restaurant, they were able to bring my food over in very timely manner and check up on me while continuously refilling my water and tea. I was shocked.
I'm also not sure, but I believe the owners or management are Asian (possibly Vietnamese). Is this the secret to their success?
