RandR,
Thanks for informing C.com.
What are the essential services needed in a tune-up?
What are unnecessary services that consumers should stay away? |

My pleasure! A good tune-up will involve checking and adjusting refrigerant and air flow levels. Not easy to do, but it is part of the IID "Check Me! Service". A third party, Proctor Engineering, analyzes field data and tells the "Check Me!" trained tech what to do to get the AC working at max efficiency. Any tune-up should involve washing your AC's condensor coil (a copper coil that generally wraps around the AC's compressor). That service is extremely important.
Unecessary services that I've come across are indoor air quality upgrades. They are supposed to be the most effective way to improve air quality inside the home, but they are expensive to install and usually a fuss to maintain. If not maintained these indoor air quality products (Electronic Air Cleaners, HEPA systems, thick media filters, etc) can be counter productive. Not worth it unless you have severe asthma or something, at least that's what I think. |
