OK. My DSL connection was activated on December 27, 2002 at my home in Calexico. That was 11 days ago. Plenty of time to run my connection through the ringer.

The verdict? It rocks.

I've been getting a consistent 1.2Mbit downstream since day one. Considering my guarantee is only 384KB, that's just plain awesome. I've choked my upstream a few times, being that it's only 128KB, but all things considered, 'tis a minor nuisance.

Real broadband has hit the valley, and it kicks ass. You've got no excuse, people, sign up.

"I like it a lot!"

The future of Calecia.com will involve high bandwidth access, so you better sign up. Otherwise you're gonna be left out in the cold, I mean heat... oh wait cold. You won't wanna miss any of it, is what I'm trying to say.

Why are you trying to single out the poor working man who comes home from working all day at Wal-Mart who can't afford DSL and who's only enjoyment in life is sitting down in front of his 386, with a VGA monitor, that he bought at Santo Tomas for 100 bucks, as he drinks his beer and reads and writes posts on Calecia.com right before he goes to his second job as a bus boy at Denny's?

You're an asshole.

Because that same "poor guy" probably pays $60/month to have one of those queer two-way cell phones clipped to his belt. He chose the ability to tell his friend Nacho that he is at Wall-Mart over the new content of Calecia.com

My peak download transfer rate is at approximately 150 KB/s, while my peak upload transfer rate is around 12 KB/s. If you're getting 40 KB/s, then there's a problem.

If you're getting this transfer rate while downloading from some peer-to-peer network (Gnutella, FastTrack, DirectConnect, etc.) then it's pretty common, since it's all dependent on the computer's speed you are connected to. If you get this while downloading from sites such as Microsoft's or Apple's then you might want to have your telephone line checked out.
