So I thought this was interesting for this topic...

In todays IV Press (Sunday Jan 8th) they asked a couple of people what they wanted to be built in imperial valley this year. and well heres some of the answers..

another mall (but in brawley), in and out burgers, ikea, hometown buffet (in el centro) and sams club.

Now eventhought these may be far fetch business (ikea) to come to the valley, some other ones dont seem that far fetch... does anyone know if anything is comming to the valley, particularly Calexico that has not been discussed in this thread???

What's the obsession with fast food restaurants and crappy retail stores?

When is the high school going to get rid of those trailers and build new classrooms?

Let's wish for green parks with recreational venues, clean downtown, better educational facilities and perhaps a bookstore. Oops, a new 99 cent store in downtown Calexico on Heber/2nd (old Apple market store)

Although I prefer to have local restaurants that are actually good open up, I also don't mind have fast food joints, besides another Jack in the Box, open up for my convenience.

Not everyone can be a cook everyday, so you must have options.

If the trailers are paid for, why replace them with actual buildings if they serve the same purpose?

What's the deal with the grand park that was going to be built in the new Victoria Homes (Zapata and Clinton) area.

Soccer/football fields, tennis courts, blah, blah, blah. Just another dirt lot, from what I've seen so far.

You'd be opening one up too if it made you a millionaire like it has the others.

Good luck with not having the crappy stores come into calexico... i think the only highlight that calexico has ever had is the Movie Theater and that was built 7 years ago in march.

Dont count on having the high school get new buildings in the near future... Cesar Chaves Elementary has been in the works for the last 10 years yet they still havent even broken ground on it...

The one thing that calexico might get would be green parks... that is since they are now run and operated by a private company... but then again that is hopefull.

You know if calexican would actually demand better things from their politicians, i guess barne's and noble would probably come town as well as many other things... heck if that was the case, im pretty sure that the mall would be within calexico's city limit and not el centro's. But that is also too hopefull....

but yeah count on those 99 cent stores to keep on comming!!!!

What's going on with the property of the old Sam Ellis (or was that Selwick's?) home on Highway 98 and Perry Avenue?

I know the property is now an adult daycare or rehab place, but are they planning on adding more commercial property there?

That was my first guess. If this is so, can we expect more office space like we got in front of Villa de Oro?
