Any Howard Stern fans on here?
He's done with regular FM radio and moving on to be exclusive to Sirius satellite radio early next month. I hear Radiodude is taking his place... not. Howard claims that thousands, if not millions, of his fans have or are moving over to the become subscribers for $12.95 a month so they can continue listening to him and his crew.
I'm sure many have, but is Howard Stern really worth it? If you're not already a Sirius subscriber with the existing content, will this make you do it? What about XM Radio subscribers who are Howard Stern fans? Will they do the switch?
I think existing XM Radio subscribers would be more willing to transfer over, since they're already accustomed to paying a monthly fee. They may have to purchase new equipment, but the they already pay the fees.
It'll be interesting to see how much of an impact Howard has for Sirius and how XM Radio will retaliate. XM has already picked up Bob Dylan to do his own show, but I can't imagine him being up to par with "The King Of All Media." It looks as if Howard is the new image for Sirius and they are embracing him.
I used to be a Howard Stern fan. In fact, I stole his whole "F" word thing and use it even till the day. But F him, he just ain't that funny anymore since he got divorced. Hopefully he does become funny again, but I ain't paying $13 bones a months to find out.

I heard about the first 30 minutes of the new Howard Stern Show on Sirius (01/12/2006) and it was a little mellow. No one was trying to offend and there wasn't any outlandish behavior, but Howard did say the real F word once, which kinda caught me off guard.
What was hilarious was that there's a Christian extremist group who's already trying to get him off satellite for predicting that he will be obscene in the near future. Howard and co. admit they haven't even made any attempts to offend as they are still working out the kinks of the new setup.
It seems like maybe the Howard Stern Show might be good again, but Robin's fake laugh is still as annoying as ever. I'm still not shelling out the montlhly fee, I'll just wait for the daily audio recording to be made available for download. |
