I was reading a magazine and came across an advertisement page from MasterCard and General Motors which has a promotion going for the summer where one MasterCard credit card holder would win 12 GM cars. At first I thought it read 1 car for each winner, but it was actually 12 cars for 1 winner. I then wished I would win that. I would give you one.

Then it got me thinking as to who else in the Imperial Valley might have won a grand prize for a nationally advertised contest and how cool that must have been to be the one lucky Imperial Valley resident that everyone else envied.

I do know of one grand prize winner from Calexico who won the cars from the movie Dick Tracy. He ended up keeping one of them, after selling the other two (I think Madonna's was sold to Disney). In my opinion, this was a great achievement for someone from little ol' Calexico. Unfortunately, Big Ed ended up dying so I don't know what happened to his car.

But I'm sure there are other big prize winners here in the valley. Someone must have won a GM "Red Button" prize. I know there was two or three people who did in Yuma.

Know of any?

My good friend Kegger won the Dick Tracy cars. He was good people. Unfortunately, we lost him from a diabetic coma a few years back. RIP, Kegger.

Sorry Elchrist. I didn't finish reading your post before I posted. I think Ed sold the last one a long ago. I'll ask a cousin of his who I'll be seeing this weekend and let you know.

I hear that there is new "grand prize" winner in the Imperial Valley, I believe in Imperial, who is one of the winners of Discovery Channel's American Chopper FANtasy Bike Contest.

Apparently, the winner is "physically challenged" and a custom bike from Orange County Choppers (OCC) will be made for him with the American Chopper special broadcasting sometime later this month.

The crew of American Chopper was in the valley some time ago to visit him.

Congratulations, dude.

Told you all some dude, named Brian, in Imperial won this contest. He's the guy in the wheelchair that says, "Holy freakin'..." and "No way!"

Expect him to have a lot of new friends pop out of the tumbleweeds in Imperial.
