Mr. elcrist, how about some birria, when the fancy West Side L.A. figures this tasty meal out the workers will see the price of it head up. I always loved it before picking the vinyards of Ontario or old Cucamonga, now Rancho Cucamonga.

California farmers are expanding their herds to keep up with demand for a red meat that has all the protein of beef but far less fat.

STOCKTON — For many Californians, goat has become the other red meat.
Curried goat and birria stew have become fixtures on the menus of local restaurants. Markets catering to Muslims and Latinos do brisk business selling fresh goat meat. Even the meat section of the upscale Whole Foods Market in Glendale now peddles the commodity.
Goat meat imports to the U.S. jumped about 140% over a seven-year period ending in 2003. Now some California farmers see gold in goat. They are expanding their herds, hoping to cash in on consumers' broadening tastes... |

Did anybody volunteer? I was too drunk off NyQuil that there was no way I'd get up at 2 AM.
I hope the farm workers had a good breakfast. Any idea what they were served? Did Starbucks donate any coffee? |

My dad happens to be a supervisor for a farm and he told me that they serve (almost every year) tamales, machaca and egg burritos, beans, rice, pan dulce, coffe, milk, champurrrado, you know, stuff of the sort. |
