I always thought that christmas was about how many lights you can fit on your house and property.

I agree with spic-ole.
a country build on the principle of separation of church and state should not endorse christianity or any other religion. Some may say it's a waste of time to discuss religion or religious matters. Some learning would benefit us all.
Sometimes we take for granted the freedoms we enjoy in the U.S. You can believe whatever you want and persuade other to believe like you through spoken and written word, radio, tv, etc. But just cross the border and try to buy a page from La Voz de la Frontera or La Cronica to promote any non-catholic view and they'll say "no, thanks"; try to buy time from any radio station in Mexicali and tell them it's for a non-catholic message and they'll say "no" or travel to many towns in Oaxaca, Chiapas or other states and try to preach on the streets, or teach in the houses and you''ll be lucky if you just loose your property (house, animals, etc)....but you'll probably will be killed.
Try the same in Calecia and if anybody messes with you the police will come and take that person to see the judge....Thanks America for that freedom.
Respectfully I say "If somebody's religion necesita bules para nadar (help from the government in the form of endorsment, funds, etc to advance its numbers), they that person should reconsider his/her faith.
Whenever government and church marry (or even live together) both suffer: Government looses sight of how to manage things that pertain to everyday needs (look at the religious right dudes in washington)....and religion looses its power to affect peoples' lives for the better...they believers are fed politics instead of spiritual food.
Good day all.
Freedom and justice (fair play) for all.

If you guys ever read the Constitution you guys would see that GOD is mentioned many times. This Great Country was built on GOD and this Country is going to fall unless we go back to believing in GOD and making him a part of our lives. So, Merry Christmas to all. Al Rato Laughing

Fuck, some of those houses have more lights than a Vegas casino; and lighted 6' Mickey Mouse inflatables!!! Que pedo??? Shocked Do they work for IID or what kind of rates are they paying?
Vanity, vanity, vanity...
What about donating those wasted power fees to charity? Or if your family hates you and viceversa, or if you just wanna give, give a gift or send food to the Valley's or Mexicali's needy?

cucu84 says that God is mentioned in the Constitution. elchrist makes a good point saying that it was Allah and Mars hints that not everything back then was good (slavery, for example). Now cucu84 if you want God to be part of your life.....good! If you want to persuade your neighbors to do that too....good! But if you want the government (just because some of the founding fathers were christians-different brands) to impose things like school prayer and the like your're in for a big fight.
Just imagine if school payer was mandatory: monday morning before first class in high school, miss Alverez, a student, in first row volunteers to pray and she starts "Our fahter and heaven, thank you for this day and for Jesus...." Next day comes Darkieboy so sits way in the back and he starts "Oh great lord satan".....man!....all christian students would just walk out of the class ....or may even jump'im.
Then they would have to modify the law to say that prayer should be addressed to God, the father of Jesus. Ok, monday comes, and student J.W. Soytestigo, at the second row starts praying "Father, thank you for creating Jesus, our brother...help us do good works just like he did so we can go to heaven..."....man! those christian kids would just walk out of the class room because they don't believe Jesus to be a created being.
So, back to change de law....
Yes, cucu84, the word mentioned in the constitution is "God", but (thanks God) it does not mention how you should perceive God (is he Allah? like elchrist suggest...did he approve slavery back then, does he approve it now? like Mars points out.
To make people become a certain brand of christians a la fuerza it's againts the contitution.
Next step? The christian right wants to change the constitution....
Why bother discuss this...well if you don't have a watch dog or if it's to lazy or it's sick, the hambos will take your mountain bike from your back yard.
Good day all.
