I've seen a lot of typos on store signs, billboards and especially on Calecia.com Discussions, so I got an idea for a new photo gallery where we collaboratively (i.e. - all of us) take pictures of these typos and put them together in one place for the rest to see.

Some examples are "Tonny's Furniture" in Calexico, which really should say Tony's Furniture and another obvious misspelling I saw on a huge billboard while on my way to work which should have read 'Next," but instead was "Nexx."

I think it's a good idea and it will definitely keep local graphic artists and printers on their toes.

It's fun to work together, so send in your photos to gallery@calecia.com.

Just one question, how can you critizice when you dont even know when the typos are plainly just made on purpose? Can't it just be that "Tonny's" parents liked the idea of two n's instead of one? Can't it be that "Nexx" is just a diffent way of seeing next? Think about it elchrist. And don't be such a "grammarlistic" Nazi! haven't you realized we're creating a new language? its obvious you simply don't have anything better to do!

ps, and please don't correct "grammarlistic".

pss, and "Tonny" just happens to be my father and yes, he chose the double "n".

First of all, go F yourself.

Second of all, because the store is actually named Tony's Furniture and just one of the signs spells out "Tonny's Furniture."

Nope.

Fuck this creating a new language bullshit. You're not going to pull this ebonics crap on me or on anyone of the rest of us.

Ever thought about it in an artistic manner, pendexter?

Do you even know what "ps" stands for?

You misspelled "piss."

Sucks for him. It's never too late to have a name change, you know.

It is quite common for immigrant businessman to have typos because lEnglish is the second language. I understand the owner of the swap meet is a multi millionare and he has trouble with the English language but he's very savvy and hard working. It is also quite common for any businessman to have fun with the name because it is called "marketing"

TONNY was innovative and he created a marketing "buzz". Perhaps unknowingly.

I don't give a shit if some one struggles with the english language, all you have to do is get a fucking dictionary and look up the word. Trust me if I go to china and start a fucking bakery I will look up how to spell fucking bakery. And as for tonny's or tony's whatever elchrist got you on that one, you can't spell it both ways and not expect people to know which one is right Whap!

And you see how professional all his marketing and advertising campaigns are, right?

Look at Santo Tomas. That is a tight run business, except for the food operations which is not exactly their own. Now look at Las Palmas. No comment.

Baloney.

I'm going to personally ask Tony about the sign to get the facts, but my best guess is whoever made the sign for the post outside made a mistake and when Tony realized it, the sign maker ended up giving it to him for an unresistable price so he would not have to incur the reproduction costs.

Yet you're right, here we are now talking about it, but I doubt that was the intention.

English as a second language is no excuse when you are running a business. You need to make sure your business materials are correct.
