Then why not just have a civil wedding?
Who's this wedding really for? Unless you both want to have an elaborate ceremony and a large reception, then drop the plans and have a civil wedding with the invitees being close friends and family.
Think of what you can do with all the money you'll save. Whether it's money you use for a down payment on a house or to pay for an awesome vacation you might never experience once you have children. This money can be invested in something that can end up being much more memorable.
So unless you're loaded with cash or YOU are not paying for it, then think of what other things you can be planning for. |

Planning a wedding can indeed be a very stressful task but you should look at it as something more you can share with your partner.
Sometimes civil weddings are sufficient but sometimes there are outside factors that influence the "need" for a ceremony and big party such as family and well... family. |

| Totally agree with Elchrist's reply. I myself don't wanna have a wedding whenever I do decide to get married. I see it as just spending a lot of money on throwing a party for all the guest's, and odds are that not everyone will be happy with the party. They're either gonna complain about the food, music, decorations etc... What I've seen from the many wedding's I've been to is that the people that least enjoy the wedding are the ones being married. They are too worried about everything coming out alright. My plans are to get that money I would've spent on a wedding, and have the vacation of my life. Somewhere to where I might never go to again once I have kids and the married life kicks in. |

Not necessarily. Weddings are what women and some men are all about. It can be said that most women have planned their wedding days since before they started using kotex. As for some guys its about topping your other friends weddings. Kinda like keeping up with the Joneses.
Look most women go to weddings to fuckin nit pick every single item.
OOOhhhh, these invations are the cheap ones....
"That's a lovely dress" should be replaced by "Damn, that shit must have been expensive"
With most women it all starts when they see an engangement ring.
For most men it all starts when they buy the engangement ring. "Oh, so and so bought her a 1 karat, so I need to buy at least a 1.1 karat."
The sorry part about all of this is that when ever I do get married I have a feeling Im going to be stuck with one of those big weddings. Like watts said, family. Still, personally I think the whole wedding planning is a big ass joke.
Just pick something and move on. Your wedding will not be perfect. One word, drunks. |

| I had a great time at my wedding in Mexico City. I don't think it was perfect though, and if people were criitical of anything they kept it to themselves. Tactless people who criticize everything loudly shouldn't be invited in the first place. |

If THEY want the wedding so badly, then let them pay for it.

If you're going to have a wedding, then you're going to need to rent out the stretched Hummer H2.
Not the Excursion, but the Hummer H2. |
