I thought it was the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month at 6 PM.
I went to the last one (it was moved to Wednesday, the 18th) and it was pretty interesting. There was quite a bit of verbal assault which made it very interesting.
Anyway, the agenda said that the next meeting was going to be on December 9th, 2003. That's today.
Be there or be square. |

Today's meeting was a little interesting...
There were talks about donating roughly 600 acres surrounding the C.M. Ranch in Calexico to a non-profit organization in a joint effort with the city of Calexico to use this space for some type of cultural use, since it's considered a historical landmark. This was previously the home of the Chandler family, owner's of the Los Angeles Times.
The discussion of building another swimming pool was brought up again and hopes are for it to be built before the coming summer months.
The highlight of the night was an unexpected visit from Congressman Bob Filner who provided a summary report on the House of Representatives recent 2004 budget approval. He stressed how the United States is spending approximately 2 billions dollars every 2 days on the war in Iraq. Another part of the briefing was on how the Imperial Valley will secure funding for a renewable energy program which will involve sugar canes and provide about 1,000 local jobs.
The next city council meeting is scheduled for January 13th, 2004, with the deadline of submitting agenda items being January 6th, 2004. |
