what do you mean? of course they do. how can you count safeway being safeway before vons and not transformers? if you're going to count safeway(a so cal thing), you need to count transformers. |
Because there was a Vons in Calexico up until recently, and before that (back in the day), that very same Vons was a Safeway.
Transformers have nothing to do with being "old school," any more than Stompers or A-Team action figures do; that just makes you old.
Now, if you still refer to certain sections of Calexico as KGs, La Garra and Ghost Town, then you, my friend, are truly "old school Calecia." |

That's not the point. To the best of my knowledge, the original intention of this thread was to point out things that are/were "old school Calecia", not stuff that was popular all over the nation when you were a kid.
Going cave hunting around the Green Pipes as a kid = Old School Calecia
Playing with Transformers or watching BJ and the Bear on TV = Pretty much every other kid in the US |

If you remember the 'canal' in between Mains and Las Casitas.
Bonus points if you ever caught a catfish.
If you ever opened the latch on the canal so the fields (current W.Moreno Jr. High) would get flooded.
Bonus points if you ever jumped that canal with your Remate build BMX Bike.
While in the Remate you bought a small transformer. That's right. Get a battery and go around 'daring' people to see if they could beat your 37 second record. Pussy if you didn't. |
