LA Times:
SACRAMENTO — On his first full day as governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger proposed putting a $15-billion bond measure before voters in March, saying long-term borrowing is necessary just to clean up the deficit he inherited from Gray Davis.

Even before he was able to take part in any of the three celebratory receptions held Monday, Arnold Schwarzenegger retired to the governor's office and followed through with one of this major campaign promises -- repealing the tripling of the car tax.

So far it seems like everything is going to be okay. He is also working on a refund of the car tax for those who already paid.

The repeal of the car tax would've been the only reason I might have voted for Ah-nuld. As long as he keeps more money in my pocket and less in taxes, I might vote for him in a re-election bid.

Repealing the car tax was a good fiscal idea, since, as it has been pointed out in the media many times over already, it would have been declared illegal by the courts anyway and the state would have had to pay the money back. Thus putting the state in tighter financial strains.

The bond, my friend, is a different issue all together. Who do you think is gonna have to pay back that money later on? That's right, you and me.

The adage, "Penny wise, pound foolish," is completely relevant to his bond strategy.
