I got this great idea in one of my English classes. This will be a Calecia.com short story.
I'll start it off, then, somebody can continue where I left off, and so on. |

| Andy had been walking for hours, and still, no sign of civilization. He began to worry since it would soon be dark, and the desert comes alive when the sun goes down. As he walked, he remembered he had left his blanket in the car, which he was now miles away. He thought about turning back, but it would mean losing the time he had already spent walking. |

Suddenly, Andy heard a muffled explosion coming from miles behind him; it was his car igniting into a hellish fireball. Hours later, when the flames finally subsided, all that remained of his lime green '67 Impala with the ivory, chiffon interior, was a pile of ash and goo.
Andy was going to have to walk his way out of this one sans blanket. |

| As Andy continued his voyage into the cold and dark desert, he began to hear rustling coming from the surrounding plant life. Recalling the tales he'd heard as a child about this desolated region, he began to walk a little faster sensing that someone or something was watching him. |

As he paced faster, the rustling grew louder. It seemed as though something was following him. He picked up some rocks and threw it in the direction that the rustling was coming from. He could have sworn that he had hit something. The rustling stopped. This made him even more nervous since he was now completely convinced that something was following him.
As he continued to walk, his mind played tricks on him. He could always see something out of the corner of his eye, but everytime he turned to look to see what it was, there was nothing there. |

Moments after the rustling stopped, Andy decides to stop and rest as he's fatigued and has gone hours without a drink of water or a meal. He looks for a place to rest and finds an open area where he can vigilantly keep watch.
With the aid of the moonlight he finds a small, smooth boulder where he can sit. Andy surveys the area and decides it's safe enough to sit down and rest for just a minute. Completely exhausted, his eyes begin to shut no matter how hard he tries to fight it. Before he realizes, he's fallen into a deep sleep. |

The cold desert air was uncomfortable and awakened Andy. He wondered how long he had slept; it was still dark. "Man, I really wish I had remembered my fucking blanket", he thought to himself. He got up and started on his journey again.
After walking for what seemed like hours, Andy noticed a faint light in the distance. He couldn't make out what the light source was...wait a minute! Was it Andy's imagination or was the light moving toward him? |

Anxiety hit Andy like a runaway locomotive. "A smoke," Andy thought to himself. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a crumpled pack. Two broken, three bent. Andy put a cigarette in his mouth and reached for his lighter, but there was none to be found; he had been at the mercy of his car's cigarette lighter during his trip to this forsaken desert. Miles away, that same cigarette lighter laid atop the remains of his smoldering blanket.
Andy stared ahead. The light was moving toward him. Anxiety turned into fear. He crouched behind the boulder in hopes that he could evade whoever, or whatever, was heading his way.
Suddenly, he heard the sound again. It was still behind him, but it was close. Too close. |

With a cold sweat, a rising heartbeat, and an overpowering curiosity, he mustered up the courage to glance behind the boulder to find the source of the mysterious light.
The glow struck his eye. Andy scanned the scene as efficiently as he could. The source was too bright, he could not make out a figure. A familiar rumbling sound jetted passed his ear. "A car?" he contemplated.
He managed to sneak in one more glimpse, and as he had guessed, an automobile was parked on the other side, it was a police cruiser. His paranoia got the better of him. He shook it off, and with a great sigh of relief he leaped up from the cold desert ground to accept this welcomed help and made his way over to the cruiser. But just as he thought he was free of his burdens, he discovered that the vehicle was abandoned. |

Standing next to the driver's side door, Andy looked left, then right, but didn't see anyone in the vicinity. "Who the hell was driving this car?", he thought.
"Hello!", he yelled. "Hello! Officer, can you hear me?", he screamed.
No answer came from the darkness. The driver's window was open, so he opened the door and sat down. The keys were missing and the radio was lying on the passenger seat.
Reaching for the radio to call for help, Andy feels a warm, swift breeze come through the window. Frozen, he slowly turns to look outside. |
