My Girlfriend convinced me to try it out. She said that it was nice and that I should try at least once, even though I didn't want to. I love Applebee's and I did not want to ruin my experience.
When I got there I have to admit it looks nice and clean. It was kind of small, but that was okay. There is a full service bar, but all domestic beer on tap
strike 1
I refuse to drink domestic beer on tap so I order a Mountain Dew. I ordered my food and I waited a while. The waiters were nice. They come up to us and tell us our food will be out in five minutes. I thought okay that's cool. Well. about ten minutes later we still have no food. Plus, I drink my drinks fast so I new quick refills. I'm sitting there with an empty cup of Mountain Dew. Our food gets there and I ask for another soda. We start eating and the food was good. All of a sudden some Chicalones sitting on both sides of us decide to have a conservation with each other by yelling back and forth at each other. This shit fucken sucks..........strike 2
Well, I'm eating my food and I'm half way through it and still I have no Mountain Dew. My girl is pist before I am. 3/4 through my meal my soda get there. That pisses me off. I usually drink get about 3-4 refills when I eat so I am extremely annoyed. strike 3
I ask for my bill and again it takes them a long as time to get that as well. Finally I get my bill I pay and leave a reasonable tip. I will not be going back there for a long time or until they get their shit together.
Last Sunday I went to Applebee's In El Cajon. I got Microbrew beer on tap, fuck yeah, I got my refills before I even finished my beer. I got my food quick it was awesome. I got my bill promptly. I left a well deserved generous tip. The difference was night and day. |

I went to Applebee's on Halloween. It was quite full and busy, but I must say that I enjoyed my dining experience there. The food and service were good. But then again, I'm friends with the General Manager and know quite a few of the people employed there.
The only thing I didn't like was the fact that this Applebee's doesn't have a microbrewery and when I asked my server if they had one, she had no fucking clue as to what "microbrew" meant. |

The only thing to really do here is to speak to the manager about your problems. If you're telling the waiter or clerk, do you really think they give a shit?
Maybe the unresponsive service has to do with Applebee's being a new restaurant in town and the employees getting used to the work. Maybe not.
With IHOP, from my experiences, this isn't the case. They actually are unresponsive; taking 10 minutes to get you a menu, 30 minutes to bring your food, but quick with the bill. Bitching and complaining is what needs to be done, unfortunately I never did this at IHOP. I just walked out.
If we want a microbrewery at Applebee's, we'll need to let them know that this is fucking bullshit and that you expect to see the same items on the menu when you visit any Applebee's. If it takes contacting their corporate offices, then it must be done. |

I asked my friend about the microbrewery, he responded with, "I wish". I'm pretty sure that their corporate offices feel that the Imperial Valley is not ready for microbrews.
To be honest, they're probably right.
One time I went to a concert in San Diego with some friends and we got there with plenty of time to spare, so we went to a bar, which happened to be a microbrewery, and one of my friends was incredulous as to the fact that they didn't have any Bud Light! |

This is most likely true. There just isn't enough demand for anything else that is out of the norm right now. Or is that the distributors don't deliver in this region? I think this is why Albertsons doesn't carry what the San Diego locations do.
From what I know, Ocotillo Liquor in El Centro picks up their own alcohol which is not delivered to the Imperial Valley. For this reason is why they have Newcastle. Whatever the reason is, I commend them for having it. There definitely is a demand for it in El Centro because most of the times I've gone in to pick up a six pack or two, they are all out.
We need a locally owned liquor store to make the same efforts. With enough demand, or with the right contacts (hint, hint), we can start having it available in Calexico. |

Guys, I feel your pain in regards to the quality-beer shortage in the Imperial Valley. If it were up to me, I'd want a big pipeline of Pyramid Hefeweizen stubbing out at my parents house.
But I only counted two strikes against Applebees in the review above. The two chicalones speaking loudly shouldn't count. As far as refills are concerned, if they are free the waiter/waitress won't give a shit about promptly bringing you gallons and gallons of Mountain Dew because it isn't adding anything to the bill. In this instance, the fault really lies with the diner for letting the waitress get away with providing you with mediocre service. |
