okay, here's what's going on, I went to my local U. S. post office and told them I wanted to send X amount of money to another country, specifically the UK....the person looked at me kinda confused....did a little typing on the computer, then after 5 minutes said "That's in Germany right?" he then told me that he couldn't sell me a money order cause he wasn't sure how to do it properly, and to come back tomorrow so someone else could help me...now does anybody know if the U. S post office even sell International Money Orders?

I don't know if the Postal Service sells international money orders, but what I would do if I needed to send money to another country is try Western Union and make a wire transfer.

I've used my bank to make overseas wire transfers. I don't recall if they charged me a fee.

When in was in Mexico, DF I counted on my ATM so that I wouldn't have all my money with me at the same time. When I got my bank statement I realized that I got charged like five bucks for every withdrawl. Money currency exchange fee.

Who was/is your bank?

I used a debit card from Bank of America in some asian country* and don't recall them charging a fee for each withdrawal. In fact, I ended up getting a great exchange rate.

Looks like your bank sucks.

* Yes, I was there for the little boys. Heehee.

Banks always get the best exchange rates in foreign countries. I bank with Wells Fargo and when I've been in Mexico I had an ATM service charge which is a bit more than the regular service charge. But the actual ATM you use won't charge you anything.

The best thing to do when travelling abroad is withdrawing money from ATM's. Withdrawing enough to last a few days is the best strategy that way you limit the amount of trips to ATM's.

It took one week to get this response when it could've only taken seconds to ask while you were visiting the local post office.

Very efficient. Thumbs Up
