We've all been in situations where we have a problem and we don't have the appropriate tools and/or resources available to remedy it. In these dilemmas, we turn to solutions that may have been passed down from generation to generation or simply picked up off the streets. Whether it's anti-freeze or zucchinis, there's always an alternative.

Here we share our favorite chicanadas and provide an example of how it has come in handy in our life.

The first one that pops into my mind is removing the thermostat from your car to keep it from overheating.

During my high school years, I used to get a ride back and forth from school and home. My friend's car always seemed to have a problem starting up, which appeared to have something to do with the battery.

For the ride, we used to bring along a 2 liter bottle of Coca-Cola which was used to get the car to start. We'd pour this refreshing drink over the battery terminals and it would eat away at the corrosion*. Moments later, the car would start.

* Great for washing your teeth as well.

These three things are essential for most chicanadas out there.

1. Duck Tape
2. Pinsas Perras
3. The phrase, "...chinge su madre"

I heard of this car before. I also heard that this car had no ignition key-hole, so the driver would get this wire from the pedal area and use a screwdriver to start his car.

Ricky, Ricky (thumping on the top of the car)......

As we all know Armor All is one pretty expensive product. I remember my unlce would ask me to go buy two Cocas. One for me and one for the tires. He would use the Coke as Armor All and it worked pretty good. He only used it on the tires and not on the dash board or other areas.

Windex, please. Water and some periodico for the windows.

I remember in high school girls used to break the erasers off of their pencils and use them to hold their earrings in place when they'd lose the stub*.

Back in my freestyle days, we sometimes use to put Coca-Cola on the wheel walls so that our breaks would perform as good, if not better, than those Dia Compe 990s I could never afford.
