Did anyone else receive some paperwork regarding a class-action suit against SBC DSL Services?
The grounds for the suit are:
a) slower than advertised speeds
b) interruptions of service
Everyone who participates will be entitled (if the case is won) to:
a) up to two months of free service
b) $20
Can you get blacklisted by SBC for participating in this suit?
Broadband alternatives are not very appealing in this region. |

Got it and went straight into my trash can.
I've been experiencing the advertised transfer rate since I signed up for the service, so I'm not about to fill out their questionnaire just to get myself 20 bahcks.
What I have experienced at rare times is no connectivity when I am attempting to use the service. You can't really expect everything to work right all the time, but it sure can be annoying.
The class action lawsuit reminds of the one that cropped up months ago regarding music CDs. It turned out that if enough people joined, there would be little or no payback. Could this be a similar outcome here?
We do have other broadband Internet access alternatives: cable, satellite and even wireless. With most you could say they are as (un)reliable as DSL.
As to SBC blacklisting you for your participation in the lawsuit... probably not. What would concern me even more is what this law firm could potentially do with all the data they collect. |
