I still can't believe how cheap people in this town are. They can't seem to cough up a buck or two after a meal, or after having a pizza delivered to their house. Personally, I thought I was an average tipper, I used to always tip at least 2 or 3 bucks to waitress' and delivery people, but Jesus!, It's becoming really apparent to me, that I tip like a millionare, at least for this area's standards.

I think the worst people are those dumbasses that drive around in those big ass trucks with fancy rims, etc. etc. Then again, I guess if you could tip with food stamps they would tip too.

How do the rest of you normally tip? Do you use some kind of checklist to see how much you're tipping? And for those of you that don't tip, do you have any shame? Do you even buy new tissues? Or do you just wash them and hang them up until they dry?

Oh and by the way, before any of you wannabe pinks wanna try and sound cool, remember, we've all seen Reservoir Dogs, so, please, don't be an unoriginal bastard.

it all depend on the service with me. There has been times when the service sucked big brown eye and I don't leave anything or only a dollar or two. Then there has been times when the waiters are really cool and friendly and I don't mind leaving up to 10buck. I like tipping but they just have to earn it.
Last year, my girls and I went to eat at this place in San Diego called Sally's this place is one of the top resturants in the nation or something maybe world I saw it on Food Network. We spend about 80 buck for the two of us. The service there was awesome I never had to raise a finger. I remember we got our apptz. right away and we were like that was fast. Then the waiter came up and told us we are sorry your apptz took so long so we will offer you a complimentary glass of wine. I ordered a 10 dollar glass of wine it was awesome.

Well anyways when we left we tipped the waiter 20 bucks. so I guess we did pay for the glass of wine, but I bet they get bigger tips than that. 100 bucks for a meal, dammit. We are going back next month.

The amount of the tip always depends on the service, in my case. If the service is so-so, I'll leave 2 or 3 bucks. If the service is good, I'll leave $5. If the service is exceptional, I've been known to leave $10 or more. If the service sucks, I don't leave anything.

If I'm broke and barely have enough cash for the food, I don't leave anything. I don't feel bad when I don't have enough for a tip, because I feel that I make it up to them the times I tip them 5-10 dollars.

By the way, the proper amount for a tip is considered to be %15 of the bill.

It depends if I'm drunk or not.

If I'm drunk the tip escalates. If I'm sober it depends on the service.

For the most part I just double the tax. Quick math.

I don't have a problem with people that don't tip or tip a little. Some people don't tip over 5 bucks even though their bill came out to be $80.

Some people like big rims on their cars and some like stock rims. The same for tipping. Some people get off on tipping like if thats going to make you cool. Some tip the 15% and some the 3-5 buck range. Does that make you cheap?

If you like to tip (15%) do you generally tip more if the server is a hottie?

Like Jehovah, I can be loving tipper, or a vengeful tipper.

I normally tip between 10-20%, depending on the size of the bill, and the overall quality of service.

Of course, if the waiter or waitress is an asshole, I wont give them anything; and I wont sneak out on them, either. I'll stay at the table until they come back and tell them exactly why I'm not leaving them a tip.

If they're really get on my nerves, I'll go straight to the manager and try my best to get them reprimanded.

I hate tipping. It's a fucked up concept and a very touchy subject.

It sucks that waiters or servers usually depend on a tip to survive, but the damn business owners should be paying them an extra 15% out of payroll and not making this additional income dependent on the customer. Raising the prices is not the solution either to cover this extra pay because most customers will not go back afterwards.

Don't get me wrong, as I don't have a problem shelling out a few dollars or pesos for good service as extra (non-taxable) cash for the waiter, but tipping is now simply a way to keep you hostage during the time you are visiting their establishment. It's their implementation of fear.

Nowadays you need to worry about the quality of your food at every restaurant you visit and not just at McDonalds or Burger King. It doesn't matter any more if the services rendered were good or not, if you don't provide a tip you're probably going to get it next time. From the horror stories I've read on waiting(?), they know when you don't tip and they go out of their way to make you pay the next time you return. Don't think you're going to get away with it.

So, I tip and I'll admit it's for a little of both reasons. For the service and out of fear.

Waiters' and waitresses' tips are taxed, especially if you tip them with your credit/debit card. Cash tips are easier to hide, but the IRS still taxes servers on what the government assumes they got in tips for the entire year.

It's pretty sad when you think of it.

I remember once I didn't have enough money to leave a tip, so I told the waitress that I had just bought a lottery ticket and whatever I won from that lotto ticket, I would split 50 percent with her. She agreed. So the next morning I checked the lotto results to see if I had won or not, I checked the first number, then the second, and third, and so on.

I didn't have a single number right. I haven't gone back to that restaurant since.

i normally leave about five bucks regardless of the bill. normally i get really good service and the servers are nice. i guess it's because i used to be a very generous tipper back when i had money.
