At Costco you can get gas about 30-40cents cheaper than anywhere else. The only thing is you need a Costco membership to buy and you have to pay by debit or American Express. If you don't have a membership come inside and I'll hook you up with pass for gas. I work the membership desk guess who I am and I'll hook you up.

If you were ever a Costco member and still have your card, you can continue using it at the gas pumps. The Costco verification system apparently doesn't check the expiry.

Fine with me, I'm a paying customer.

How much of a discount do Costco employees get on purchases? Maybe you can come in handy after all. Wink

Sorry man, Costco is too cheap to give employees discounts. Instead we get four free memberships. And part timers get full benefits and 'bonuses.

Since you claim to be a Costco employee, you might know this...

Is Costco's gasoline inferior to other gasoline stations'? I only ask because it is much cheaper in price than the others and as the primary station I fill up at, I am concerned. Last thing I want is to be filling up on cheaper priced gasoline when in the long run it may cause me engine problems or whatever.

I know that some of the products they offer in the warehouse are (near) discontinued products purchased in bulk by Costco and then offered to it's members at low prices. I've noticed this on some of the tires, electronics and clothing that they have in inventory.

I'm right, right?

Well, from what I've heard, the gasoline at Costco is Kirkland gasoline, and if you read the fine print at the gas pumps, it says, "Compare to Chevron."

Nah, the product sold in the warehouse is not discontinued or near. The product they sell is comparable to department and major stores. Costco simply make deal with companies to buy product at a marked down price for buying in bulk. Most companies sign in on a contract to sell their product under the Kirkland name like Duracell, Haines, Tyson Chicken, Lee jean, and many brand names. Plus Sony Play stations, Game cubes, X Box, BFG tires are not discontinued Costco does not make their money from profits do they never mark up anything more than 14%. Costco makes most of their money membership fees. We sign up around 50-100 new members a day in our warehouse and renew twice as much at about $45- 150. So you can imagine how much it adds up with all warehouses combined and this is simply the money they charge for you to come in, it's about 100% profit.

As far as the gas goes, There are only about 3-4 major gas distributors. No matter what they say most stations are selling you the same gas fro more money. The gas there is just as good as anywhere else. The reason the gas is so cheap is because their selling it at the buying price in order to draw more people to join. It all business and politics. The CEO of the company Jim Sinegal is one smart cat. He treats his employees well and they treat the members well. That way he gets all the big bucks.

The warehouse manager at this warehouse makes about $150,000 a year. The only thing is he has to move every five years.

Spic-ole knows I work at Cotsco so there's my proof that I work there.
