i'm having a bit of trouble making a vcd. i have house of a 1000 corpses on my hard drive. it's a 300MB file and runs about 85min. i'm using a regular cd-r that has 700MB capacity. i'm using Nero as my burn application, and it tells me there isn't any room. does anyone know how to fit this movie into the disc or am i just fucked, and should just resort to using to cds?

I dunno. Maybe you're exceeding the total minute capability? What's it say on the CD-R?

Also, try out http://www.vcdhelp.com.

You can fit 740 MB on a 74 min CD and 800 MB on a 80 min CD on a VCD!

Your 700 MB CD fits approximately 70 minutes.

What codec was the video encoded with? By doing the math with the variables you provided (85 minutes of video at 300 MB), I'd say the video was encoded with either XviD or DivX, which are not VCD compliant.

You need a VCD compliant MPEG-1 file in order to make VCDs, and, at 85 minutes, that movie would take two CDs, too, since it exceeds the size capacity limit of a 700 MB (80 minute) CD-R.
