Hey everyone! We are No Standards. We are putting on a show at Brawley high with 7 or 8 bands on April 11th. Besides us the other bands are Underminded, Early Times,12:30(not confirmed),9Litre(not confirmed),2 some extent, GAGE 10, RSP. 9 litre is more than likely to pull cuz its on a friday but if they don't thats good. IT IS FREE TO GET IN! The bands will be selling and giving away merch. We hope everyone can make it. We have everything from Pop punk to Hard Rock. We hope all you can make it. We may need another band if one band pulls so if you know a band or have a band that wants to play send us an email at thesluts@nostandars.cjb.net. Thanks and keep supporting your local music scene. |

This show was added a few days ago on Calecia.com Events, but it does need to get updated.
Brawley Music Show

I'm not into the emo punk thing, but if you guys want to play in Calexico, then go for it. Live music is always good, as long as the bands don't start to cry when the crowd begins insulting them. After all that's part of the show, right?
I've heard a few sound clips from a couple of the other bands though. RSP sounds pretty good. |

Nah, they're too busy opening up for 2 Minutos. I knew I should have learned to play the trumpet all those years ago. |

Man, those fuckers would almost cry if you hurled insults at them during their set. So, I made it a point to do so. |

Ain't that something? It happens to everyone, whether legendary or unknown.
Case in point: I drove up to Phoenix, AZ last year to catch the Butthole Surfers' Weird Revolution Tour. We got to the venue just as they were setting up on stage, but, to my surprise almost everyone was leaving. I asked a pack of twelve-year old girls (I think that's the demographic for "Punk" music, nowadays) and I asked them what was up? "The good band already played, so everyone's leaving," she said. The "good band" she was talking about was some band named Goldfinger, who after investigating, might as well have been Avril Lavigne. The crowd went from 300 to 30 people in about 15 minutes. Not that I mind, actually, but, you get the point.
Anyway, yeah, that tune Drug Fiend sound pretty good. |

If I remember correctly, Golfinger was a local band, which is why they had a bigger following. |

No, they are not. According to their Web site, they're a "ska-punk" band from Los Angeles, CA.
As to why they had a bigger following, I'm sure that is attributed to the fact that most, if not all, of their fans were dropped off and/or picked up at the show by their mommy. The people who went there to see the Butthole Surfers, on the other hand, either wound up in jail that night, were too drunk to remember the directions to the venue, or simply passed out at the parking lot.
Mixing Goldfinger with the Butthole Surfers is like mixing Flintstones Vitamins with cyanide capsules. Whoever put that show together was an idiot. |
