The Bush administration is arguing that Iraq is violating laws of war as stated in the Geneva Convention, even though the Bush administration is currently being criticized for the treatment of Al-Quaeda and Taliban POWs currently being held at Guatanamo Bay, Cuba. The Bush administration has been trying to subvert the Geneva Convention, when it comes to dealing with the conflict in Afghanistan, by calling the prisoners, not prisoners of war, but "detainees", and by claiming that the Taliban was not the officially recognised government of Afghanistan. The U.S. is also accused by some of killing POWs that had already surrendered in Afghanistan. The Bush administration also declared that no American soldiers would be subject to any war tribunals resulting from the conflict in Afghanistan.
The Bush administration invaded Iraq under false pretenses, having used forged documents to justify it's attack. The U.S. continued with war plans even after the documents were proved to be fake.
The Bush administration has gone to war with false evidence, against the will of the United Nations, and without immediate threat to the U.S. or any of its allies. The Bush administration has taken away our right to privacy under the guise of "Homeland Security".
It seems to me that we, here in the U.S., live under the control of one of the biggest dictators* in the world today: George W. Bush.
*Don't forget that Bush came into power under suspicious circumstances. |
