What's the story behind the house that used to stand by Highway 98 & Clark Road? You know, the "mansion" that was burnt down and has been in ruins for over 10 years now?

I heard that it was owned by a doctor and his wife caught him having an affair. She went psycho and set the house on flames. At least that's what I've heard.

Any truth to that?

I heard that the doctor, himself, set fire to the house in an attempt to collect the insurance money.

I heard that his wife caught him cheating on her and set fire to the house as revenge.

Who know. There are probably a hundred stories, and all of them false.

I'll tell you a true story about the place, though. Way back around 1991-93 (the place was already burnt), some friends and I went out there in hopes of draining and skating the pool (the pool sucked, wasn't ridable.) While there, we noticed that the wall in the back of the house was half missing, so we went inside and were surprised to find that the damn place was still fully furnished and stocked (though water and fire damaged.) There was clothing in the closets (I helped myself to a cape and cowl -- don't ask me why. Still have it somewhere.), the other guys grabbed bottles of wine, assorted medications (I remember expired Tylenol III), silverware, you name it. It was a pretty nice house. I really liked the basement den.

A few months later, we had a really bad rain season and the house collapsed. Too bad. I always wanted to go back and grab me an evening dress.

i heard a little of both. his wife caught him cheating, filed for divorce, and the doctor burned the house down because she was going to get it.

I heard that a not so frequent poster on Calecia.com is already eyeing the property.

He said it will be his.
