What do people predict about this movie? I've been reading that there is even Oscar buzz for Salma Hayek's performance.

I don't know about her acting, but I've seen Titus which is an excellent movie that was directed by Julie Taymor who is also directing Frida. It is for this reason that I will definitely go see this movie.

I like Salma Hayek, but I don't consider her to be one the of the greatest actresses in the world. I'm not sure if I would even consider giving her an Oscar for any of her roles so far, the only exception might be "calle de los milagros" or something like that (she didn't play a stripper in this one).

I also do not particularly like Frida Kahlo or any of her work. I believe she is completely overrated and is only famous due to her association with Diego Rivera (although it is very possible that I could be wrong. I don't know much about her life, only some things about her works.)
Yet, for some reason I am completely drawn to this movie, and I it is something I actually want to watch.

If this movie turns out well, I guess I'll check out the director's other works.

Her breasts look the same in Frida as they did in Desperado. So unless she got them before that who knows.

I did read in an article about her that she said that when she was little she prayed for big breasts and that eventually God gave them to her. So unless she is lying, I think they are real.

It is ignorant thinking like this that keeps Latino actors/actrisses, artists, poets, and writers out of the mainstream. Have you ever taken an art class? If you had then you could appreciate her work and not just criticize it. Frida and Diego have done wonderful things for Latinos. They brought Mexico into the mainstream. Especially Frida, she did many wonderful things for my Latina sisters.

Frida depicts many depressing era's in her life through her art. This is something you could probably not understand from living in the suburbs, shopping at the Gap, and watching MTV all day. Your generation is truly sad. You confuse beautiful art for crap.

"Because they know all they solda ya was a guaranteed piece of shit. That's all it is. Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for right now, for your sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality item from me."

How many art classes does one need to take to be considered fluent in art appreciation?
Do I need to take one art class in high school?
How about one in college? Does it matter if I attended SDSU Imperial Campus?
Is there any more weight on lower or upper division courses?

So once the criteria is all laid out can I then truly grasp and begin to comprehend Frida's work.

Do I need to attend Galleries in La Jolla, drink Merlot, and act snotty to understand Frida's work?

Who can appreciate Frida's art more a white aristocractic male, who shops at BrooksBrothers, and lives in Brentwood or a tamale making house wife from Rosarito?

Or can I just look at her work and say, esa madre no me cai. Not my style. Then continue to say that Diego Rivera's murals are excellent art work.
