With war right around the corner, I starting thinking about how many of the people I actually know were deployed to the Middle East to form the Freedom Shield. I may never see these people again because they may die. Sucks.

How many people do you personally know who were deployed to the Middle East to engage in combat?

I just sent a personal package to my friend over seas... When soldiers are deployed overseas for combat they don't take much with them but the military stuff. Top Ramen is a big deal to them. and any soldier will tell you "wipies" is a must have. So if anyone out there knows someone who just left, it would be nice to send them a care package. Thumbs Up

I happen to know a lot of people that are going to be in the war. It's kind of sad to see them go, but, what can you do? Nobody forced them to join the military.

I know from experience that care packages, letters and pictures really help when deployed, so if you know the APO address for your friends and family members deployed anywhere overseas I highly recommend you keep in touch with them.

Very true, but some unfortunate soldiers and reservists are forced to stay in beyond their contractual obligations. Some are even being forced to stay past their retirement dates!
