Several educators, approximately 75, were given employment release notices this week from various Calexico schools. These notices were not given to those who underachieved, but this was mainly due to the expected state budget cuts in education.

A few educators I know were affected, as well as some who you'd never expect to be given the pink-slip. Mr. Pond, the Calexico High School band teacher, was one of them.

Best of luck to the educators who's contracts will not be renewed for the following school year. And kids, you're in for some ride next year.

it is a shame. even though i gave these teachers a hard time when i was in school, they did have a positve effect on me. hell, if it wasn't for mr. pond, i might be dead at this point. stupid teenage bi-polar anxiety whatever. a lot of these teachers do more than teach in the classroom. a lot really cared about the students. it's a statewide problem. thank you gray davis and your unfulfilled promises Annoyed

10 counselors district wide to help over around 8,000 students or what ever the number is. Still, have fun getting your schedule changed.

Larry Bird told me that a teacher at Calexico Unified School District was put on admistrative leave for sexually harrassing a student.
