I visited downtown Calexico the other day and found out that it has changed alot!! Someone needs to go in and inspect the chinito stores, they over price and over stock the items. I also ate a hotdog at the hotdog stand (DAA). OMG! I saw the lady pour water from the sink into the chilli. It was awful and expensive to eat there!
I think they should change the chinito- store policies...like no refunds, no fitting rooms, and the cramped-up aisles. It's a hazard going into those stores, I can't even go in to one without getting an asthma attack!!! If the chinitos want to act like big shot retailers they should practice the same policies.
only one store that i think does ok is Bakers, thats the one I go to and JC Penney, even though the expansion was not so helpful in bringing more merchandise, like the shoes. |

Nothing wrong with adding faucet water to the chili. I grew up drinking faucet water and never had any complications complications. You know, some families can't afford to have the Arrowhead delivery guy making a visit to their home once or twice a week.

These chinos are smart business men and are extremely efficient. They fit as much inventory as legally possible and don't spend ludicrous amounts of money on advertising. Sure their shops may not be pretty, but that's how you're able to get the great deal on that ceramic tea set you've got your eye on.
I'm still waiting on the IPO for one of these shops. If every company out there operated in this fashion, we wouldn't have had the dot-com bubble burst and be in this economic hell.

I noticed they expanded the JC Penny in downtown Calexico, but haven't gone inside to check it out. So nothing new, huh? |

qwitcherbitchin'! if you don't like it there, don't go. case solved. and that tap water issue. it isn't an issue. about a year ago, i read a study from i believe it was ucla or one of those science schools that said other than taste, there really isn't that much difference between tap water and bottled water, only taste. and that's what your worried about, remember, the chili is most likely hot. boiling water will solve whatever contamination you may be worried about. the hot chili will take care of this. the hot dogs there are plenty safe. |

I am not worried about taste! You said it the water needs to be boiled before it can be rid of any bacteria that it may have...these ladies pour it, stir it, and serve it. Now the chili isn't that hot, other wise you'd have to wait for it to cool down before you ate it. My concern is, the plumbing system there is too old. I am very picky of where I eat, and how they serve the food etc.etc. I was craving those hotdogs for about two years now, I can't say i was disappointed but I just think that it's a matter of sanitation. Where do you think you are? Somalia?
There's nothing wrong with the water system here. The only real difference between the water you pay 2 bucks a liter for and the water you get from your hose is taste. Tap water isn't going to do anything to you. Tap water lacks the essential minerals that give bottled water it's taste.
If anything, people who drink tap water are healthier because they have better immune systems for it, bottled water screws up your immune system because it's too clean.
It's one of the reasons I like to take a swim in the all-american canal once a week. |

I think the canal water is affecting your mentality. I never said there was something wrong with the water system. I never said anything about taste either,  ay, ay,ay. |
