What is wrong with most kids today? What are their plans for the future? How will they fit into society? How will they survive?
These are some of the questions I have about kids today. How they can't even put together a proper English or Spanish sentence during a verbal conversation. I'm not referring to them being under educated, but to the way they simply speak, dawg.
I'm sure you've heard them speak as well.
"Sup dawg?"
"That shit is tight."
"Nah, foo(l)."
etc., etc., etc.
I've missed many of their classic "favorite sayings," but you know exactly what I'm talking about.
You might be thinking it's just a fad, but from what I've noticed this is how they really speak in public. In parties, schools, stores, interviews, jail cells... everywhere. To their friends, family, teachers, police officers, the mayor, their probation officer... everyone.
This is how they're choosing to speak today. It may start off as a "cool" way to speak, but it becomes a part of them and doesn't seem to go away. I've seen it and heard it with kids still in school and with adults who are already over the age of 18. Adults that are supposed to already be part of "society."
I remember the most we would alter our speech was by ending a sentence with a word like "dude," "eh," or "wey." That was our extreme, but when we had to communicate properly it was never a problem.
All I have to add to this is that the youth of today is fucked. |

| I have noticed that American society is making a switch from being ethnocentric to becoming media-defined. Think about it. The majority of people subscribed to the white male mentality in the past (Mexican machismo in our general geographical location). But now kids just mimic whatever the media feeds them. Look at what just one fucking movie did: “The Fast and the Furious”. How many cars in our region have suffered the consequences of that movie? This area is especially vulnerable to the media, because its circumstances prevent it from spawning any kind of underground movement. So the kids are forced to adopt whatever the media bombards them with. Right now it’s cool to be black, although it’s not cool to actually be black. If the media actually portrayed education and tolerance as being cool, I’m sure the fucking kids would subscribe to it. If you don’t believe this to be true, just look at the hippie movement. But who the fuck wants to live in a jolly educated society. Then we would have no one to make fun of. |

I have to agree with the youth of today. I deal with high school students quite often, And it's said because you are actually impressed because somebody is able to form, verbally or written a decent idea or opnion. it's not even that good but just because it's desent you get impressed. It's like if you in a special ed class for example. And a student is able to draw one straight line you are like, "fuck Yeah!" this kid is good. But the kid really isn't any good in relative terms.
MTV has way to much influence on them. And the few "PUNKS" that are here aren't intellegent punks like some of the ones i knew they are actually just as retarded and outcast from the mainstream that they have no where else to turn but to spike up their hair and act PUNK.
I always though PUNKS segragated themsleves because they saw through the MTV bullshit, not because they had no other choice. Are youth is in the crapper, but some are actually good, not many, but some, DAWG! |

I don't know what to say about the youth of today, I will say this though, back in the day, you had diversity. You had the nerds, the jocks, the preppies, the punks, metalheads, cholos, junkies, etc., and when you looked at someone, you knew what group they fit into.
Nowadays, all these kids look the same! The preppies dress like punks, metalheads have no image anymore and they look like punks, same with junkies, and the nerds dress like punks! Cholos even wear "punk" clothing. I can't stand this shit. It drives me nuts. It makes me ashamed to be human.
What the hell is so cool about punk? Fuck punk! It's all about 80's Soft Rock music for me.
I can't wait for this trend to die, forever!
And abouth the language, it's true, these kids can't even form a sentence anymore, not even the nerds, they're too cool. |

When I was younger, normal kids (take that as you will) would laugh at and beat up other kids for having spiked hair, wearing combat boots, playing in a (punk) rock band, skateboarding, listening to loud and/or fast music, wearing a leather jacket with slogans on it, having long hair, not wearing matching socks, looking "dirty", writing lyrics/music, etc.
Nowadays, normal kids laugh at and beat up other kids for not having spiked hair, not wearing combat boots, not playing in a (punk) rock band, not skateboarding, not listening to loud and/or fast music, not wearing a leather jacket with slogans on it, not having long hair, wearing matching socks, not looking "dirty", not writing lyrics/music, etc.
Fucking kids today, man. Where's the Pied Piper when you need him? |

The one unifying ingredient to all these walking billboards, is that no matter what they consider themselves to be, they all wear Independent® clothing. The other day I saw some cholos on skateboards throwing a sign to some other cholos, and most of them were wearing Independent® sweatshirts. What the fuck? I’ve seen cremas, so-called punks, emo whiners, peace officers, chicalones, people’s mothers, liltle kids, wannabe mayates, cholos, and cholo groupies wearing this shit (and other assorted skating apparel). If you ask me, the whole thing went downhill when skaters started listening to rap. Because rap brought with it all its tired baggage. If you even own anything by Independent®, you are part of the problem my friend. So fuck you! |

Could all this dissent I'm reading about the youth of today actually indicate that we are crossing over to adulthood. I know that many of us are way past our teen years and considered ourselves adults but are you really? I've met some very stupid kids (and some bright ones) now that I'm older and I think to myself, I wonder if I sounded this immature and naive when I was that age. The answer is that I probably did to some.
But the way some of these kids talk now is just insane. It seems that every sentence they form is a question, you know? I remember when we were kids everyone overused the work "like". Some people would use it three times in a sentence. I'm pretty sure that drove our teachers crazy too. It's a vicious cycle that will continue. Just wait for the times when your kids are blasting their music and you have to yell at them to turn it down. |
