Don't you own an Independent beanie or is that some one else? |
Some one else. I always buy my beanies at K-mart. I'm poor. |
Hey, fuck you. I own an Indy beanie. Although, I'm exempt from all this bullshit due to my hardcore, street skateboarding roots.
I stay away from "skate" clothing due to the mall punk, fad-of-the-month bullshit it represents. Except for my Vans. I won't wear anything but Vans when it comes to sneakers. (I'd probably buy some Skull Skates gear, though.)
Fuck shopping at K-mart for beanies, too. Santo Tomas is where it's at for beanies (and caps.) |

No.
| watts wrote: | | But the way some of these kids talk now is just insane. It seems that every sentence they form is a question, you know? I remember when we were kids everyone overused the work "like". Some people would use it three times in a sentence. I'm pretty sure that drove our teachers crazy too. It's a vicious cycle that will continue. |
It's not the same thing. Back in the day, if a kid used the word "like" in a sentence, one or ten times, you could still understand what they were saying. It's the equivilent of using "uhm" to pause in your sentences. It can get very annoying, but you still comprehend them.
Now they use words that are fed to them by celebrities, usually rappers/hip-hoppers, like "shiznit" and "fo' shizzle." These are not real words. They are ridiculous and the originator most likely knows it, but understands that their fans and/or critics are not gonna say a god damn thing, but embrace it.

Regardless of what you say you are now on the other side of the fence. Deal with it.
Keeping your finger on the pulse of anything requires a lot of energy and eventually you'll stop caring who the up-and-coming punk bands are or who is topping the music charts or what is the latest catch-phrase. Your likes/interests/hobbies change as you mature into adulthood. This doesn't necessarily turn you into a square.
BTW, thanks for the informative yet brief response to the first question in my post. |

Pobre vato.
People stop caring about things when they never really had an true interest in them. Although people's interests do have the potential to change, but it is usually based upon that same initial interest.
Anyway, my concern is not to keep up with the latest trends and fads. My concern, at least in this topic, is the youth of today. I do care about them and hope they change because I will probably have to deal with these people everytime I want to order a hamburger or go into a convenience store and buy myself a drink.

You're welcome. No explanation was needed and my answer was sufficient enough. |

I deal with high school students quite often, And it's said because you are actually impressed because somebody is able to form, verbally or written a decent idea or opnion. it's not even that good but just because it's desent you get impressed. It's like if you in a special ed class for example. And a student is able to draw one straight line you are like, "fuck Yeah!" this kid is good. But the kid really isn't any good in relative terms. |
First of all,
Second of all, kids in special education classes are not to blame for the way they are. They have mental and/or physical disabilities, while the others do not.

Blame Beavis and Butthead.

| This is definitely a problem. Youth of today have very little individualism. I worked at high schools for two years and, practically, all the students dressed and talked the same! Now, I work at an institutional facility with teens who have conduct disorders and all of them, with the exception of one kid, talk and dress alike. What's really sad is that the one kid who doesn't dress and talk like the others is ostracized not only by his peers, but by most of the adult staff, too! |

| i think everybody is forgetting about the number 1 reason the youth of today is so fucked up. everybody blames mtv and any kind of media, but the number one reason that kids are so fucked up is the ability or lack there of, of parenting. modern day parents are so fucked up now 'n days, it makes me sick. parents are afraid to discipline little billy because they don't want to hurt his feelings, or because their parent disciplined them. oh no, a spanking is going overboard. we can't have that. that's why we got time out. what a fucking joke. i remember reading about six years ago about a kinder student that took his dad's gun to school to shoot his teacher. why? because she gave him a time out. quite honestly, if i was a kid, i'd welcome a time out over getting spanked. it tells me i really got away with doing something bad. parents also need to be the teachers of these kids. they can't have these snot nosed kids watching whatever they goddamn want. parents, not tv need to teach kids right from wrong. parents need to teach kids what life is really about, not mtv. parents need to teach kids about drugs, sex, reality, and the consequences of their actions. fuck billy and fuck modern day parents. give me a belt to whack kids with and a lesson to learn any day. |

| You people don't know shit about what you are saying. I'm one of today's youths and I talk like that. Many of my friends are the same way, they can probably talk more educated than all of you. Just because I talk a certain way with my friends doesn't mean that I am going to talk to an educated person the same way, Dawgs! Just because your older doesn't mean your wiser. You got to know your facts before you try talking smack |

Many of us do have our facts straight. And as for talking more educated than the rest of us older folks, well, that depends who you're talking about. Age has nothing to do with how educated you talk (or speak, which is the educated synonym), I know this for a fact because I talk more educated than a lot of people twice my age.
Now if you're gonna go around trying to make a bunch of old fogies feel like shit because they have you all wrong, here's something you might learn someday in English 101, if you ever go to college, prove them wrong with examples, not by some rant that makes you look like a dumbass. |
