Dude, what the hell is up with gas prices? I was filling my gas tank up yesterday and as I was doing it, I thought to myself, "Wow!, my fuel meter must not be reading right, half a tank usually costs less." Then I looked up at the price of unleaded gasoline and almost fainted. Luckily, there was a strong man there to catch me.

$1.99 a gallon. What the fuck is up with that?

By the way, anyone know why a lot of the gas stations are remodeling?

the bad thing is that we live in what i believe is the highest taxed state for gas.

the remodeling is a thing that the state has layed down on the store owners. they must have some kind of "double-walled" tanks installed instead of "single-walled" tanks. it's supposed to help protect the environment. one wall leaks, the other is back up. but what happens when the second wall leaks Question

As of Friday, February 28, 2003, gas was around $1.73/gallon in the Phoenix area, with at least two places as low as $1.29!

California Über Alles.

Regardless of expensive real estate, high fuel prices, a fucked up economy, and on and on... I wouldn't want to live in any other state, but Calfornia.

Although it would be nice to have gas prices like our neighbor state. Crying or Very sad

I agree...if it weren't for the fact that I couldn't find a good job that paid a decent wage here, I'd still be here in Cali! Crying or Very sad

PS: Arizona has the highest auto insurance in the west! I'm paying twice as much for insurance there as I was here! Shocked

I'm just thankful our local prices haven't hit this high yet:

Doesn't surprise my one bit. Around 90% of the content on that newspaper is from the AP.

I was driving to Tahoe a couple weeks ago with some people and we had to fill up the tank while we were still crossing the mountains. I saw that the price was 2.39 for 89 and I almost shit my pants. I seriously contemplated just sliding down the hill in neutral and waiting to fill up when I got to the base of the mountain. Gas prices in Oakland are at 2.20 for 89 octane.

Gas stations in isolated areas like the mountains or on the PCH, especially up north heading towards the San Francisco area, are a gold mine (for the owners). When there's no other option and you're almost running on empty, you have to "bite the bullet."

Another example are the two gas stations in Jacumba. I only stop there to use the restroom, for a smoke break, or when I have to beat the shit out of myself so I can stay awake for the rest of the ride home.
