Chuco-Boy:
You made me laugh on that one,,,very true...big truckies=little pee-pees...LOL! I wonder how long people will drive their road tanks when gas eventually hits $4/gallon? God, I hope I'm wrong on this one, but I've been doing independent research on this Oil/Gasoline subject so long that almost all my predictions have come to pass.
Ok...for the record: Gasoline will hit $3.50 by August 2007....IF we get another hurricane or gasoline refinery explosion, then I say it REASLISTICALLY goes to $4/gallon...
On this subject, there's a good documenatry "Who killed the Electric Car?"...if your'e interested in this subject check it out...it's most excellent. Oh, by the way, Hydrogen fuels cost so much to make and refine, that it's cheaper to go "plug-in" Hybrid vehicles...the technology is there, we just have to figure out how to LOWER the price of Lithium-Ion batteries (curently $9-$12k a set). SD Union had an article on guys that are getting 100MPG+ on their modified toyota Prius.....amazing. |

Would people really plug-in their cars to electrical outlets?
I don't see the turn around for a conversion system to take a long time. First, don't use those bright orange extension cords and plugs. Use a nice and safe adapter. Second, let capitalism work its magic. If I was Denny's or any fast food chain I would include several electrical sources in the parking lot. This will help the Griswold's of the world out because you know no gas station is going to adapt an electrical system. Plus, the longer they have to stay in your restaurant the more flow you get.
The tech has been out there for at least 3 decades, but when you have the Bush's of the world running the world it is of no surprise why we still depend on fossil fuels. I got a hundred bucks that next year's State of the Union Address the President will spend 5 minutes talking on this very subject.
Seriously, it took about 20-30 billion dollars (today's money) and 3-4 years to build the first atomic weapon, but we can't build a vehicle that does not need fossil fuels? It took NASA less than ten years to put a man on the moon after President Kennedy vowed that we would. I say, NASA should be in charge of building the first mass-produce H-car. X-car or what ever you want to call it. If they can't build that then we have no business spending valuable resources for space exploration. |

I agree with everything you said. You are right on the money. Reread my post where I mentioned the documentary "Who killed the Electric Car?" The EV-1 cars that GM put out from 1993-2001 had a safe conversion system that was installed in your garage. There were also several plug-in stations around LA where you could park and plug in your car. I think that the idea of Denny's and places like that offering "plug-ins" for an electric car while you dine is an excellent idea. I bet this is what the future will bring within the next 5-10 yrs. |

| Man...looks like I was partially right. Gas has hit $3.49/gal at Shell...the only part I was wrong is that it took 3 months not 6 months like I thought it would. There's an excellent editorial in the SD Union by Andres Oppenheimer WHY gas should be at $4/gal....really a good read. It's the Mayy11,2007 edition. Check it out if you get the chance. |
