Saddam Hussein has challenged George W. Bush to a debate over going to war (again). Hussein seems to be looking for a peaceful outcome, while Bush is looking for straight-out war.

I wasn't able to find a news article, but I believe Bush has already said the possibility of the debate between him and Hussein taking place is a "no go". If this is true, then it doesn't surprise me because Bush's cabinet is probably scared shitless as to what this man may say on live, unscripted television.

What are your thoughts and/or opinions regarding the possibility of this debate occurring?

Translator For Saddam Hussein: If-- the American people-- would like to know the facts for what they are, or as they are, through a direct dialogue, then I am ready to conduct a direct dialogue with the President of the United States, President Bush, on television. I will say whatever I have to say-- about American policy. He will have-- the opportunity to say whatever he has to say about policy of Iraq. And this will be in front of all people, and-- on television, in a direct—uncensored – hon - honest manner. In front of, as I said, everyone.

And then they will see what the facts are, and where falsehoods are. And I would not object to see this dialogue conducted on-- by-- by Mr. (UNINTEL).

Bush and his cronies are foaming at the mouth to got at it with Iraq. He (they) would never agree to debate Hussein. Especially live and uncensored on television.

Could you imagine if Hussein agreed to a peaceful settlement live on television? The horror! We'd wind up with a bad case of war blue balls.

Or, I wonder, could it be that they're afraid of any possible dirty laundry Hussein would bring up about his current and/or past dealing with the U.S.?

So, no. I don't think it will happen. I think there is a higher probability of Sigfreud and Roy showing up at my front door and asking me if I'd like to go bowling.

Come on dude give me a break. do you really buy that Hussein is looking for a peaceful outcome, if it is it's just to get the US off his ass for a while. It's alright to be anti-war or whatever but don't believe for a second that Husseins main goal is peace, that's bullshilt.

Answer this:
Who is invading who?

Unless Saddam Hussein straight out lied to Dan Rather, then it sure sounds like he is looking for a peaceful end to this issue. Maybe peace is not his main goal, but it sure has to be high on his priority list.

Do you really buy that Bush is looking for anything other than a bloody outcome?

If Iraq were to disarm completely, would the U.S. believe it? Would the U.S. even care? Everything up to this point has shown that the U.S. is only bidding its time until it can strategically maneuver its troops around the region in preparation for an invasion of Iraq.

What really fuels my fire on this issue is that it's being waged by egomaniacs; on both sides. We have a dictator that has proven time and time again that the world would be a lot better off without him on one side, and a man who usurped the presidency waging an illegal war on the other (Congress, anyone? Only Congress can declare war? Hello?)

Good news for the United States, bad news for the Kurds. A comparative debate, and the possible outcome of the invasion of Iraq *.

Everyone knows Bush is a dumbass, you think Hussein is the exception? I think he just wants to make Bush look like a complete retard so no one will want to take the U.S. seriously.

Of course, Bush would never agree to a debate or believe that Iraq is complying, or ever will comply with UN resolutions. Bush is in too deep to retract now. If the US is proven wrong, and Iraq is complying and has no weapons of mass destruction, Bush will look like a fool for having spent so much money and military resources in preparing for a war with Iraq.

What I want to know, is what will Bush do if he decides to go to war and the UN is still conducting inspections...will he invade Iraq while there are still UN civilians in the country?...will he have them arrested?

let's not forget that it's saddam and his family that have raped women and killed them for struggling. it was also saddam that at one point said that it was the us and all it's citizens that were unholy and the anti-christ. i personally got offended by that. i'm an atheist, thank god.
