I liked it but in no way blew my mind the way The Matrix did. In my opinion this was 4 stars, not 5.

Only the last 90 minutes were worth watching; the acting from the male lead was crap; they spent 12 years making it, but it sounds like only about 30 minutes of that was dedicated to writing dialog and none of it matters because in five years we'll be skipping Avatar on Spike TV to play Xbox games that will have already caught up to this movie's pupil dilating cgi. I think it sucked.

Avatar was good, but not great. I'd like to see the 3D version of it though.

The essence of film making is entertainment. For the first 1/3 of the movie I was entertained by the special effects. Then after taking it in and coming back to Earth, the movie bored me.

It's hard to feel the suspense of the climax once you know exactly what and how things are going to happen. It's hard to tell people not to watch it because the effects were must see, but the movie itself is eh.
