You act like the asshole. It always works. Don't try to be a nice guy with these people. You walk on the lot, and when the dealer comes up to you, you spit on his shoes and call him jed (no matter what his name is).
If the car is worth 20 grand, tell him you'll give him 10. If it's worth 50 grand, tell him you'll give him 10 (at this point he'll start to realize that you're not dicking around and that you will not allow yourself to get ripped off.)
After he tells you a few times, that he can't lower the price that much, tell him that if he can't give you a good deal, then you're sure his competitors can. Then punch him in the face, just to seal the deal.
As you are walking away, he will surely get up and knock the price down at least a couple of grand.*
* This tactic works even better when the dealer is a woman. Reminds them who's in charge. |

| don't buy from family, friends, or people off the street. you're sure to get screwed. go to a dealer, and let the guy know what you want, and what you could spend. don't let them try to get you to spend more. if you don't like what you hear, tell him you're going to shop around. the guy will drop the price a bit. don't show any interest yet. try to get it as close to invoice as possible. if the guy says he can't go any lower, bullshit him. tell him another dealer is offering you a lower price. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. you'll have to decide if you want to do that. go to san diego. chances are you'll find them less expensive because it's a bigger city and there's more competition. and last but not least, don't buy ford. you'll be happy at the begining, but sooner or later you'll regret it. |

| Don't go to a small dealership, either. Car lots with less than 50 cars are exempt from lemon laws. Always make sure that you have a good warranty on the vehicle you buy. |
