I didn't notice until he was introduced as "former KPBS Manager" during KPBS' Spring Membership Drive. Turns out the guy retired!

Well congrats, Doug, on doing such a fine job over there at KPBS, helping bring KPBS and NPR to IV, not punching Tom Fudge in the face when during the last Membership Drive he introduced you as "Doug ... Doug Something," and most recently for filling in on These Days In San Diego. Us Desert Folk always feel ignored by the rest of California, and you've always seemed to keep us in mind, taking the time to explain station blackouts and what not. So thanks and happy trails!

Yikes--I've been enjoying my retirement so much I didn't see these nice compliments until today! Thanks very much for the kind words--and I enjoyed every minute (almost) of my 38 year career. I also considered it a privilege to bring more public radio to the Imperial Valley--before KPBS bought KQVO the IV was the largest population in the U.S. without english-language public radio service. I went to high school in Yuma, so always thought I had an understanding of the IV and why it is a community that deserves to be noticed. Anyway, thanks again for the shout out, and I'll still be checking in here at Calecia.com
