My comments to the news article is -
Part of the money should come from the sale of the property owned by the City of Calexico to GSA/DHS and invest it in the improvements of the New River. In Other words, do a swap to GSA, plus the 10 million and plus the 4 million which came from Congressman Filner's committee. I am interested to know how much or the value of the property the City of Calexico intends to sell to GSA. It my understanding the City of Calexico has plans to place the money from the sale into the City's general fund to buy new city vehicles for the city council or something like that. Signed by Ray Askins |
maybe its still on because of the whole "infrastructure" pet project that president elect obama is trying to push once he goes into office... |

We may expect the New River will be encased as promised by GSA before in the original plans for the new West Port of Entry. The final decission is still pending. Signed by Ray Askins |

The new Port of Entry will be built without encasing the new river allowing the pollutants to combine with the carbon monoxide gases from the cars waiting in line. No study was made but is now being made only availible in the fall of this year. The construction for this new port of entry will start next year and finish in 2014.
Building the new port of entry east of the New River. Now we all will need to wear gas masks.
GSA knew nothing about the 24 million dollars availible to help encase the New River. That is government for you. |

Correction - West of the New River and not East. |

wouldn't make a lot of fuss about that since the new administration is bound to put their foot down on (government spending)...
plus west of the new river is private property... i really doubt that they are going to waste leaving the old commercial port of entry abandoned while they make a brand new one on the other side of the river... wasn't the whole purpose of making the new port of entry to use Cesar Chavez blvd? |

The property west of the New River is going to be as now, employee parking. Later on I am going to scan the drawings for the new port onto the web sight. The new port is impressive. Where the junk cars are parked on the Mexican side of the border, is going to be in part
public parking. Mexico will be spending $200 million of their money for their part of the port to check for guns. |
