With the World Cup around the corner, which players do you feel must be in the starting line-up.

Here's mine.
1. Memo Ochoa
2. Rafa
3. C.Salcido
4. J.Magallon
5. A.Guardado
6. P.Pardo (I know I used to hate, but the man has earned his due)
7. N.Castillo
8. C.Vela

Here's a link to C.Vela hat-trick in Arsenal's win last week. (Check out the second goal, a thing of beauty).

Sounds about right.

Vela has really improved since he started playing with Arsenal. He came in as a sub in the ~75' during their last Champions game this week. I really hope Giovani starts producing with Tottenham or he might go the way of Nery.

Even though Nery hasn't played in about six months, he still does deserve a starting spot. Although Sven needs to call his ass up so he doesn't off himself due to depression over in Europe.

I was a little worried with Memo not being a starter for 2010, but thankfully Sven said Ochoa was the future for El Tri. Of course, that pissed off Oswaldo, but screw him.

Unfortunately, Oswaldo seems to be starting against Jamaica and Canada this month.

The sad thing about that is that Memo should be better than Oswaldo now not in the future. the only thing that means is Memo is not good enough to beat oswaldo out of the Job now but when Oswaldo is over the hill we wont have any other options.

What's everyone's thoughts on El Tri right now under Sven?

He won the first 3 games, lost 2 (Chile and Jamaica) and tied yesterday vs. Canada. Now there's a possibility that Mexico could NOT advance to the World Cup 2010 if they lose vs. Honduras and Jamaica goes wild on Canada.

What would Hugo do?

I wouldn’t go as far as to say the only thing.

Memo has shown he is better than O. Sanchez, but the reality is that Sven for what ever reason is respecting the hierarchy at that position. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Here’s what might possibly influence Sven to go with the old man.
1. Memo’s terrible performance during the Pre-Olympic games. Thus, Sven might be scared to jeopardize this round with another performance by Memo. Reality is that O.Sanchez has allowed 5 goals. After the Canada game he said they were lucky ones. That’s BS.
2. O.Sanchez' hierarchy and so-called inner circle (Rafa, Pavel, Sanchez) that have a lot of pull. So if you upset one, you upset all of them. Thus, Sven doesn’t want to start off on the wrong foot like Hugo did when the inner circle decided not to play for him because they were too tired.
3. Since Sven is trying out new blood up front by the names of C.Vela and G.dos Santos, he can’t have too many experiments on the field. Thus, O.Sanchez gives him a good media and damage control by saying he has a nice blend of experience and youth.
4. Sven got fired from England for the right reasons and doesn’t know what he is doing.

I just feel Sven is holding on to something because Memo has been clearly better than O.Sanchez for quite some time. Hugo saw it, but it might have cost him too. And before we jump on how bad Hugo was/is, remember he did find N.Castillo, J.Magallon and F.Arce (though Arce looks lost under Sven).

You judge any coach by what he does on the road. After all, the World Cup won’t be played at the Azteca.

The numbers speak for themselves. 1 lose and 1 tie to a terrible win-less club. Also, if it wasn’t for C. Blanco who came in and saved the squad in the first game against Honduras, this team would really be playing for their lives.

Sven has been stubborn in his line-ups. He has bet the farm on C. Vela, G. dos Santos, and an erratic mid-field. I still believe C. Vela is the answer, but when someone is not having a good tournament and at that age, you give others the call. If Sven loses straight up and doesn’t qualify the team he should not be allowed to enter Mexico ever again. The Federacion has been protecting Sven from the media as only TV Azteca and Televisa can interview him. I say he’s far game as was Hugo.

Overall, Sven has done enough to get the team by, but this team is too talented to be playing like this.

Was anyone surprised by R. Marquez yellow card against Jamaica?
And people call him a leader.

Nery should play every minute of the next two games. If you're going to die, die with a man's gun.

C.Blanco unretired, but Sven didn't call him. Sven is playing with fire.

C.Vela needs to play like this when he sports 'la verde.' Check the last highlight.
