Former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champion Evan Tanner was found dead near Palo Verde, Calif. on Monday. He was 37.

Seems like he prepared himself for the journey, so I wonder what the cause of death was.

What exactly is there in Palo Verde that is of any interest for "explorers?"

From what I read, it sounds like he ran out of gas somewhere in the desert then died because of the heat.
