|
|
| ITS BEEN years since The Peso MARket closed, yet everything remains the same inside the building. I was driving by once and something caught my eye so I, decided to get off my car and look inside. The aisles are still full of merchandise. It seems like they just locked up the place and never came back. I know somebody goes in there every once in a while, cause things seem to be moved around in the back property, which you can see when driving to Wal Mart through Rockwood Ave. |

If they open a Cardenas in Calexico people are going to lose their damn minds.
I heard an Asian guy owned the Peso markets but when his son died of cancer he suddenly shut them down. They say he lived for his son. No clue how true any of that is, other than the part about an Asian guy owning it. |

I wonder how a Cardenas would do in Calexico?
I really doubt Wal-Mart would lose any of the Chicali clientele. I mean, they come to the US to buy Chinese goods in American clothing so stepping into Cardenas would be stupid.
I'd hate to see Sol close down though, although I don't see the Calexico population sustaining a third mega market. I think the El Centro Cardenas is doing good because there are so many Mexican-Americans in Imperial County who want to be shop Mexican without setting foot in "dirty" Calexico or Mexicali. |
