but im not sayin its a bad idea it could work but still theres no help so far from anyone in the school

No one like’s doing someone else’s work. Also, people don’t like to be offended in the process. I will never know what the actual conversation between Chaney, Noriega, and Coach Silva, but offering money to pay for the videos, in my opinion, was not the proper way to build a relationship with these people. To connect with people like Chaney and Noriega, you have to explain how you will benefit their interest and then ask for help. Not the other way around. For example, if Noriega is still in charge of the ASB, then exploit that. Some of his main goals are to build school spirit (yes at CHS) and to raise money. Knowing that, as a coach you meet with Noriega at a convenient time and tell him how the football program would like to help the ASB raise money. That by making every football player sell 3 tickets, that more people will walk through the gates and once there they’ll probably buy more snacks and drinks. Meaning more money being raised and Noriega will be happy. After all, the football program has always been the biggest money drawing sport. Use that to your advantage. Then ask for help.

Why limit yourself to two teacher when there are many other teachers on site that can help. Just don’t ask teachers who already have too much on their plate. Also, talk to off-season coaches and tell them how you will help them out once season ends. The main thing is to build relationships with teachers, students, and coaches before you ask them for help. I still can’t get over the fact that Coach Silva has so many connections from San Diego all the way to Davis, but cannot establish relationships at the very school he is the Varsity football coach. From afar one can assume that it’s the execution that is lacking.

As for students, they will always give you the run around, but someone who can connect with them can do wonders. I have seen class advisors that have so much help that they don’t know what to do with it, and then you turn around and the next class advisor is lucky to have his class representatives’ show up to meetings. Thus, it’s not the ideas that are lacking, as both advisors are seeking the same thing, but the connection and relationship the advisors have with their class is what drives success.

Also, what about the athletes themselves who need the videos being made. What they can't contribute some time and effort to putting a video? I know if I was in high school and the coach came up to me and said, here are the DVD's from your Sophomore and Junior season, knock yourself out, that I would have a great summer. If you have 3-4 players, then you divide the work. I mean, if you're really interested in being recruited, then spend some time.

Anytime a coach brings outside material into practice or games I believe he has done a great disservice to his players and program. Players should never hear that District or soccer team or anyone is out to get them. I still have no idea how the District is out to get the team. If they were, Silva wouldn’t be coaching and I highly doubt that the District is out to get the students. It makes no sense.

If posting sarcasm or even negative comments on this site hurts player’s morale, then the Coach is doing something wrong. If someone’s comments hurt your psyche, then how are you going to handle a hostile crowd on the road? As soon as you get off the bus, people are already talking shit, especially in Brawley (classiest city in the Valley). A good coach is able to instill in his/her players the mentality that nothing matters outside the team. Players have to block everything out, even their parents advise because more often then not, parents do not the plays, techniques, schemes, or the sport. Anyway, what do words or actions by someone at the District have to do with your assignment on the field? Nothing. End of story. Move one. Next play

I stand corrected; there is no one at CHS (students, teachers, staff) that is willing to contribute to the football team or knows how to use a computer.

Lastly, I find it amusing how today’s football players feel irritated and think the soccer players are a bunch of haters for talking a little smack, when in all fairness, the soccer players are only reciprocating what the football players have done so for many decades. After all, it was the ex-jocks who would talk shit about the soccer team and even made them outcasts by calling them chicalones and what not.

Nice to see the Bulldogs beat a team that they should do so in a convincing fashion(Crawford had been outscored 129-0 in their first two games).

43-20 on the road is a solid win.

"His father did his job." How a video camera, youtube, and not blaming or waiting for others may lead to college spot.

Bulldogs coming of the nice scrimmage against the Scots (65-0) will host Imperial tonight.

As for last week's game, I hope that the AD continues to play their cross-town rivals. I don't know what happened last year, as the game was mysteriously taken off calendar.

It seems CHS only plays Vincent when they know they can beat them, but not the other way around.

I like your optimism, but instead of speculation, I rather see both teams play each year.

Last year CHS and VM lost to Brawley.
CHS lost to Imperial 21-8. The next week, VM beats Imperial 13-10.
Go figure.
