|
|
Either KPBS switched formats or KPBS 97.7 FM in Calexico lost its link to KPBS in San Diego because it's playing some hip-hop right now.
I noticed this in the morning and figured it was from the rain, but it's still down during lunch. I called them up to let them know about the problem, so hopefully they can fix this ASAP.
This worries me though. I don't think they were aware of the problem in Calexico, so it makes me wonder if anyone even listens to the station. I hope that's not the case because I'm afraid that may run the risk of it shutting down for good if no one is tuning in and supporting it. |

I noticed it, but I too thought it was because of the storm.
I listen to it all the time, I love KPBS! |

| A guy I know who works at the Press got numerous calls from PO'd listeners. People are listening to it. I've noticed whenever the transmitter takes a shit that terrible station takes over the signal. Where the heck is it from that it's powerful enough to encroach on the Valley? It sounds like an LA station. |

These PO'd listeners need to call the KPBS offices at 888-399-5727 when there's a problem w/ the station. What's the paper gonna do? Write a fake Probe letter about it?

Maybe it's being pumped out into the airwaves by Christian Slater? |

|

| Our apologies for the dead air and thanks to all our listeners for expressing concern about the outage on July 15 & 16. We lost power to the transmitter, and then suffered a related computer problem, so it took our engineers a couple of trips to solve all the issues. Apparently our audience services folks weren't made aware of the problem right away, so couldn't offer an explanation to callers. But our engineers knew right away--we are able to monitor the signal remotely and we do have back up systems in place. The station you hear when we go off the air is located in the Coachella Valley, and also broadcasts on 97.7 FM. Thanks again for your support. |
