It's official, a total of 20 people more people without a job. Today the school board voted on firing 17 teacher's aides, 2 special FTE's instructional assistants and one school technology technician. When the board and administration were asked if why were the cuts being made in these areas and not at the administration positions they said that administrative positons were also cut. Well this is correct but at the same time more administrative positions are being made, like teacher coaches, curriculum something, basically what these people do is police teachers they have no contact what so ever this students. I bet a couple of classified staff could of had their jobs if they fired one of these so called coaches or curriculum specialist or whatever they are called.

Are these recent 20 job cuts simply eliminating the positions or do they plan to rehire (most of) them?

How about they eliminate two board members and only run the show with three?

Downsize the board.

From what I heard, they were laying off these members of the classfied staff (teacher aides). And replacing them with retired teachers, substitute teachers and people of that nature. They asked if they (the district) was just passing the money through another channel, that these lay-offs were not because of the budget. From what I heard Board Member Rivera, said "yes, thats what we are doing... next question"

So this people who have been dedicated to their job for a considerable amount of time, and have dealt with the district's inefficiencies for years, are now out of a job, but not because the money isn't there, but because they would like to use it in a different way. That reflects why there are those open positions like "elchrist" has pointed out.

This sounds like a "Thank you, but don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out" type of lay-off.

River is a d*ck,is there any way he can be impeached? Oh and Castillo is a freaking moron, half of the time we can't understand what the hell he's trying to say, if he would just answer in plain english instead of trying to sound like he knows too much. I think the good people of Calecia should do something about getting Rivera off the board.
