| Yeah, I read about this a little while ago. The DS version is sans NFL license, so you can't pick real pro teams. I've been checking obsessively for months to see if the OG version would come out for the Wii virtual console. Looks like that will never happen. I'm thinking the license issue is impossible to resolve. I'll bet the NFL wants to get paid again, and Nintendo will never see why it should pay for a license for the same game twice. Thats my guess anyway. |

Did the original have NFL teams and players? Weren't they all generic teams and generic players? |

Yeah, it was licensed by the NFL. Bo Jackson (Raiders) was unstoppable. Watch the second embedded YouTube video on the first post. Oh, that's right... your computer sucks and you can't watch embedded Flash videos so you'll just have to take my word for it. |

That's a fine question. The orginal Tecmo football game, as far as I know, was Tecmo Bowl, which had no NFL license and featured generic team and player named. This OG version of the game has been available on the Wii virtual console for several months.
The game everyone knows and loves, that on top of having an NFL license had a ton of cool features, but is probably best known for having one or two unstoppable plays and players, is Tecmo Super Bowl. |
