This year's local election the new trend is obviously putting your face on your billboard. Louis Fuentes seems to have started it, at least here in Calexico, and now more than half of the candidates are letting us know what they look like. Sometimes not a good idea...
These campaigns are obviously getting more expensive which makes me wonder who's funding them and why you would spend thousands of dollars to get paid back $500 a month to serve your community. The campaign contributers must want something back in return, right? The days of simple local political ads are gone.
Though some candidates are going to a new extreme by Photoshopping themselves to look better than they really do. Take Carmen Durazo. I saw her banner on Highway 98 and Eady St. (near Mains School) and I was like, "WTF?!" She looks like she's in her late 20s/early 30s when she's really in her 50s(?). Nothing wrong with a little touch up, but that is extreme! I mean, any guy who votes for her because they drove by when they were DUI and saw the poster would think, "Whoah, she's hot!" Only to see her in person later and go, "That's false advertisement, man!"

| wow i did not know luis won i use to work for that guy he always was pretty nice guy he owns those washed up calexico transit busses that look from the 1970s.. but moreno damn i remember that guy being a dick when i was junior in high school i also knew his daughter and talked to her at times she would tell me f''ed up stuff about her pops but ehh i guess dont think much about the local politics |
