I was at Applebees Yesterday night after a meeting and I saw the Calexico Police Chief and some of his Police Officers waiting on tables. They were there for a good cause. They were receiving TIPS from customers in behalf of the IMPERIAL VALLEY SPECIAL OLYMPICS. These guys did a great job and I heard that they raised close to $3,000.00 for the cause. This is great. This shows that they care for the community and did not mind spending time away from thier families for this. I heard that El Centro PD did the same in El Centro but only recieved $1,500.00 and El Centro BP also raised about $1,300.00. Way to go Calexico. It shows that the community that only gets bad press can come together and give money. Daniel Romero here is the opportunity to use ONLY IN CALEXICO !! as a positive instead of a negative. The Calexico Police Officers found out just how hard it is to be a waiter and I heard a couple of them tell the waiters that they had more respect for them now and that they had a hard job. Kudos to the waiters who gave up on the chance for the TIPS a gave them to the IVSO. Also Applebees Thanks for this event and I tell you that I now will visit your business more often. |

That's nice of the CPD to be a part of. Glad to hear that Calexico diners tipped more than in El Centro. Hopefully the paper will publish this info so the rest of the valley can see that Calecianos are not just a bunch of animals who don't tip.
I have an idea for the next Calexico Police Department fund raiser. Have a day where those who've received minor citations like parking tickets pay the fee they owe and have it donated to another foundation. I'm sure the PD would raise thousands... Not. |
