Actually I heard from one of my buddies who happens to be one of the security personnel that its opening night is on the 22nd(Thursday)

I'm looking forward to playing there whenever they have an acoustic night or something!

I guess it opens this weekend.

They did a good job with the outside. I wonder what the inside looks like.

It actually opened to the public last night, and it was well received. Clean, cold beer, nice tables, huge restroom(no waiting) and a friendly staff. I cant wait for the events to start, inside, airconditioned with cold beer, life will be good!

The upstairs tequila lounge should be completed within the next 60 days, and we will be having the stripped/unplugged nights then. Keep in touch.

how many people fit for an event (live bands) and does the place have a PA system, stage, amps, etc.etc.

i went to the spot, no different from the owl or tommys. i talked to the owner about hosting a show there, and he told me that he would not open his stage for local bands. i thought that was kind of fucked up. the owl is hosting shows on friday nights, and he comes through when it comes to getting paid. so i recommend the owl if you want to have a show

I heard a pretty bad story that place. Some guy had ordered his (from what I heard) second beer. Somebody bumped into him as he was leaving the bar, causing to accidentally drop his beer and break the glass. A security saw him, and kicked him out because he was already "too drunk". The guy tried to reason with the him, explaining that that was only his second beer and that he dropped it accidentally. The guard would have none of it and still kicked him out.

I hate to admit this, but this seems like the type of attitude from a lot of the bouncers at all the valley "nightclubs". If this really did happen like I heard, I wouldn't support this place. That, and that bullshit thing that they won't host any live music seems like they just want to take any little bit of culture this place could've had.

Fuck this place.

i agree, bouncers are fucking idiots down here in the valley. if a club doesnt want any people getting drunk, then don't sell beer. it's like getting mad at a goffer for digging a hole. bouncers take it to the extreme just to have cheap shots

If they don't plan to have local bands play every once in a while, then what bands can we expect to play there? Anything Box?

The valley needs to have a venue to give local bands a place to play and be seen. Although they shouldn't just have any talentless local band play. There are many good bands in Imperial Valley.

There will most likely be repercussions by not letting local bands play. They could end up boycotting the place and losing a lot of local musician support. This could eventually be the demise of The Spot.

They must have major label bands booked for the rest of their existence if they expect that not supporting the local music scene is good for business. I foresee them reaching out to the local musicians once the business is at a low point in hopes of staying afloat.
